Matthew Brian Robinson:
After graduating from the University of Cape Town with a Bachelors of Commerce in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics, Matthew furthered his studies at film school, focusing on writing and directing. His graduation short film, Open Gate, was screened at The Jozi Film Festival and Shnit Worldwide Short Film Festival. Conscripted Poet is his first documentary short.
Kevin Harris:
Kevin Harris is a South African film-maker who has been working as an Independent in South Africa since 1979. In November 2007, he was awarded the Golden Horn Film & TV Award for Life-time Achievement in Documentary Film-making by the National Film & Video Foundation [NFVF] of South Africa. As an independent, working from inside South Africa, from 1980 to 1994 Kevin Harris is best known as an anti-Apartheid documentary filmmaker. In the 1980s Harris’ work was twice nominated for an Oscar / Academy Award & received two Emmy Awards in the USA. In addition, he conceived & produced the first season of the alternative series of documentary reports on South Africa during the "state of emergency" under the Apartheid regime in 1986 & 1987, titled "South Africa Now".
Harris’ International co-productions include: “Unfinished Business” – investigation into the torture and execution of exiles by ANC Military Tribunal at Quatro Camp [Awarded a “Special Commendation” by the United Nations Media Peace Awards]; “Judgement Day” – documentary feature on the contemporary situation in Israel / Palestine taking as a reference point the struggle for liberation in South Africa; [ Best Documentary - Apollo Film Festival ]. Since democracy in South Africa – from 1994 to 2023 - Kevin Harris has to date produced, written, directed & photographed over thirty-five South African feature documentaries on a variety of current human interest, social justice & political issues.
